Justice for Thee and Not for Me –

Americans, by and large, are a law-abiding people. That’s what our Lord demands of each of us. Romans 13:1 states: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” It would be nice if our political leaders would willfully adhere to the same standard and submit themselves to the civil authorities.
But many on the political Left are lawless, and what’s worse, they appear to be getting away with their misdeeds. There are too many examples to include in one column, but here are just a few: As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton conducted government business on a private email server. She also lied about the motivation for the attack at the U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya that led to the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens. But Clinton is free, and by some accounts, is mulling another run for the Presidency in 2024.
Then there were the election irregularities in November, 2020 in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and other swing states that many supporters of Donald Trump believe swung the election to Joe Biden. In each of those states, election laws passed by Republican-controlled legislatures were altered by Democratic Governors and Secretaries of State in the weeks and months leading up to the election.
Those of us living in the People’s Republic of New York are all too familiar with the reign of Andrew Cuomo. The disgraced former Governor directed 9,000 Covid- infected patients be put in nursing homes resulting in the deaths of over 12,000 elderly New Yorkers. He then covered up the numbers. Adding insult to injury he made it possible for his brother and other friends to receive free Covid tests, which at the time were not available to nursing homes. Cuomo is also alleged to have used state resources and personnel to write a book touting his performance during the early days of the pandemic. He reportedly made 5.1 million dollars from the book deal, but unfortunately for Cuomo, the state ethics committee has ordered him to return the profits. These allegations are in State Attorney General Letitia James’ report, but if you’re waiting for Cuomo to pay the piper, don’t hold your breath.
The Left operates under one rule: the ends always justify the means.
There is almost never any punishment or repercussions for their wrongdoing, and in the case of Clinton and Cuomo, crimes. I know I should say “alleged “crimes because neither Cuomo nor Clinton have been convicted of anything. And that’s the issue.
Former FBI Director James Comey denied knowing who paid for the manufactured evidence contained in the Steele dossier which was used as a pretext to begin impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump. However, thanks to a court order, emails from a year earlier proved that Comey knew all along the Democratic National Committee paid for it. Comey has yet to face charges.
Peter Hitchens, brother of the late atheist Christopher Hitchens, once said that when he was a Trotskyite, he had no morals at all and set out to do what he thought was right at the expense of anybody and anything that got in his way. They (leftists) always believe so profoundly that what they’re doing is right.
Hillary recently had the audacity to proclaim: 'We have to hold people accountable for their actions, particularly when those actions threaten our way of life, our rule of law, our future as a democracy.'"
For once, Clinton has made a statement with which most Americans would agree. Let’s hope that she is the first to be held accountable. But if history is any indicator, Clinton and the rest of her crooked leftist cohorts will never see the inside of a jail cell.

A Breath of Fresh Air –

In a profession in which grown men are paid millions of dollars a year to play a boy’s game, it is refreshing to hear an NBA star extol the virtues of the country that gives him that opportunity. Recently, Enes Kanter of the Boston Celtics was sworn-in as a U.S. citizen, and to celebrate his citizenship, Kanter officially changed his name to “Enes Kanter Freedom.”
I think it’s fair to say many professional athletes are self-indulgent, pampered, overpaid prima donnas who need a reality check. The 29-year-old Kanter, a native of Turkey, provided that recently when he disclosed that in his former homeland he was denied basic freedoms that Americans too often take for granted. Kanter said the Turkish government took away his passport in 2017. He told Boston 25 News that “America has taught him so much, here people should be blessed. You have freedom of speech, freedom of the press and I want to carry that word(freedom) with me everywhere I go.”
Kanter isn’t the first NBA star to officially change his name. Lloyd Free, who played for the Philadelphia 76er’s in the 1970’s, changed his name to World B. Free. More recently, Ron Artest decided to call himself Metta World Peace. Both men could knock down the open jumper, especially Free, but Artest didn’t live up to his sobriquet. He served the longest suspension in NBA history for his part in a brawl with Detroit Pistons players that eventually spilled over into the stands and involved several fans. Artest also spent some time in jail on a domestic violence charge.
Contrast Kanter Freedom’s statements and attitude with those of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and current NBA great Lebron James. Both men play the race card when it suits them; Kaepernick gained notoriety after taking a knee during the national anthem prior to the start of his games to protest what he says is police violence against young black men. James has also claimed police routinely racially profile people of color.
Kaepernick and James also make millions of dollars off the sale of Nike products, especially those sold in China. For two men so concerned about social justice and human rights abuses, they are conspicuously silent when it comes to the world’s most brutal abuser of human rights. Kanter spoke out recently about the communist regime cracking down on basic human freedoms and the Chinese government promptly responded by canceling the airing of all Celtic games in that nation.
Kanter normally doesn’t get political, he is just happy to be playing for one of the great franchises in all of sports, and living out his dream of residing in a country that cherishes individual liberty and the natural rights granted to us by our Creator.

More Media Double Standard –

Now that Joe Biden is calling a halt to non U.S. citizens and “residents” travelling from South Africa due to fears of the new Covid strain, Omicron, our lapdog media is jumping all over itself to show its approval for the President’s actions. “President Biden wasted no time barring air travel from eight African countries as the U.S. assesses the new Coronavirus strain that was identified in South Africa…”was the lead-in Friday morning from CBS News anchor Jeff Glor.
How quickly our overlords in the Fourth Estate have changed their tune now that the current occupant of the Oval Office has a ‘D’ in front of his name. When Donald Trump tried to stanch the tide of illegals entering America from several predominantly Muslim countries, he was denounced as a racist and a xenophobe. Fox News’ Peter Ducey recently pointed out to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki that candidate Biden once called Covid travel restrictions on foreign countries “hysterical xenophobia and fear mongering. “In response she mumbled something about “context.”
Why has the media so quickly acquiesced to Biden’s shift in policy?

They would say it’s a question of public health and safety, as so little is known about the latest Covid mutation. But what do you call a huge influx of migrants, many of them young men and most from nations hostile to the U.S., if not a threat to public safety? Any one of them could have smuggled in a suitcase nuke or anthrax or any other lethal toxin. The reason the legacy media has so quickly lined up behind Biden is because they’re on board with his agenda as it pertains to the pandemic: the vaccine mandates, the masking, all of it. No so with former President Trump’s effort to secure the southern border.
Then there’s the recent acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old Wisconsin resident cleared of all charges in the deaths of two men and the wounding of a third during a riot incited by BLM and Antifa in Kenosha, August 25, 2020. Many of the usual suspects on MSNBC and CNN have asked why young Rittenhouse, then 17, was allowed to carry an AR-15 on the streets amid all the chaos. But Wisconsin State law allows underage people to carry firearms. But nary a peep from the same leftist talking heads on this past weekend’s protests in which communist revolutionaries openly brandished the same kind of rifle with which Rittenhouse defended his life and the lives of others. Again, most of the mainstream media is hostile to the idea of the Second Amendment applying to the individual and not the collective.
This is just a sampling of the many examples of the media’s double standard when it comes to covering elected leaders of different parties. But as Frank Underwood, fictional President in the HBO series House of Cards once said “The road to power is paved with hypocrisy.”

A Time to Give Thanks –

As we gather this week to give thanks for all the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, let us remember those who are mourning the loss of loved ones; the family and friends of the five innocent people killed when a hardened criminal plowed his vehicle into a crowded street full of parade watchers; the citizens of Kenosha, Wisconsin, who have had to endure another round of violence perpetrated by many of the same kinds of people who wreaked havoc on that city a year ago August 25.
There is a battle raging across America; it pits lovers of the Constitution and the personal liberty it guarantees, against those seeking to impose a communist tyranny on Americans. There has not been this dire a threat to our Republic since 1776. America’s enemies are emboldened by their election victories last year, and they mean to remake the nation as quickly as possible. On every front our nation is threatened, and not just at our southern border. And the threats are not just physical. Joe Biden has nominated for Comptroller of the Currency, Saule Omarova, a former Soviet citizen who has written extensively on how the federal government should bankrupt the oil and natural gas industries in order to fight climate change and how Washington should abolish personal bank accounts and force every American to set up an account to which the feds would have access. More on Ms. Omarova in our next column.
Despite all the turmoil swirling about us, with Covid still dominating much of the national conversation, the vaccine and mask mandates, citizens battling their local school boards over what their children are being taught, rising prices for food, fuel and other necessities, America still shines as a beacon of freedom in a world dominated by governments who don’t afford those same freedoms to their citizens. The big difference: America has a Bill of Rights; freedoms that we believe are God-given. It is government’s responsibility to safeguard those freedoms. Even in Joe Biden’s America we still look to a brighter and more prosperous future. So let us give thanks this week and every week to a God Who loves each one of us and let us each draw closer to Him and pray that He heals our nation. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

The Left Loves Mob Rule–

The Left routinely uses fear and intimidation to achieve their political agenda. Case in point, the City of Kenosha is bracing for violence as it awaits the verdict and possible sentencing in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder case. Based on the evidence presented at trial and the gross ethics violations of the prosecution, it would appear to be an open and shut case; not in today’s hyper-partisan atmosphere. The National Guard has been put on alert as the legacy media, Lebron James and even Joe Biden have all added their two cents worth on Rittenhouse’s actions, with the President going so far as to call Rittenhouse a “white supremacist.“ That’s rich considering every person involved in the shootings is white. On any given weekend in Chicago and most other democrat-run cities, there are multiple shootings involving mostly young black males, never a peep from the media or the White House.
Those who want a murder conviction maintain that Rittenhouse should not have been there with his AR-15. Why not? Should Antifa and Black Lives Matter have been there destroying property and threatening lives? The judge in the case has already indicated the jury may consider lesser charges, possibly a gun violation for the then 17-year-old Rittenhouse for his part in the August 2020 riots. Rittenhouse shot three people, two fatally, including Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. According to the evidence and testimony, Rosenbaum grabbed the barrel of Rittenhouse’s gun, while Huber hit Rittenhouse over the head with a skateboard, and the third man, Gaige Grosskreutz, admitted that he was shot only after he pointed a loaded pistol at Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse claims he was defending himself and the evidence supports that, but the mob wants a conviction. It’s what Mark Levin calls “Mob Justice.”
Justin Blake, the uncle of the man paralyzed in the police shooting that sparked the initial riots told NBC that “most of the people seem as though they want a conviction.” That’s too bad; people in hell want ice water, that doesn’t mean they get it. A jury makes its decision based on the evidence presented in a case, that’s now how our criminal justice system is supposed to work. But the mob wants a conviction.
Last week, New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams, a Democrat and former law enforcement officer, said he planned on reinstating plainclothes street units and other measures to cut down on gun crimes in the Big Apple. Hank Newsome, co-founder of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York promised riots and “bloodshed” if that were to happen. Imagine a city such as New York being held hostage by lawless thugs such as BLM. But that is how the Left operates.
Meanwhile, Fox News is reporting the judge in the case has received death threats leading up to the verdict. The Left talks so much about justice; well, the three men who attacked Rittenhouse that August night in 2020 got the justice they deserved. Let’s hope and pray young Kyle Rittenhouse receives the same.
Update: According to published reports Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed the misdemeanor gun charge against Kyle Rittenhouse for possessing a dangerous weapon by a person under 18. Lawyers for Rittenhouse argued today that Wisconsin law has an exception which allows 17-year-olds to openly carry firearms as long as they’re not short-barreled rifles.

Media Meltdown over Virginia –

As one of my Facebook friends aptly put it: “Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.” Voters in Old Dominion put Republican Glenn Youngkin in the Governor’s mansion, as he beat former Governor Terry McAuliffe in what many observers are calling an upset. What makes this victory especially sweet is the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the legacy media over Youngkin’s victory. One MSNBC commentator lamented that the G.O.P. sweep in Virginia is the result of “dog whistle racism.” CNN tried to peddle the notion that “white identity politics” is what put Youngkin over the top. What these over-paid and under-educated no- talents choose to ignore is that Winsome Sears, a first generation Jamaican-American and U.S. Marine, is the first black woman ever elected Lieutenant Governor. And she’s a REPUBLICAN!
There is obviously a political re-alignment underway, and it’s not just in Virginia. In Buffalo, a self-described democratic socialist who ran for Mayor on a platform of defunding the police was beaten by a write-in candidate. In progressive Minneapolis, voters soundly defeated a measure to replace the city’s police department. In deep blue New Jersey, Edward Durr, a truck driver with no political experience and spending only $153 on his campaign, unseated the second most powerful lawmaker in that state. Backed by the influential building trade unions, Stephen Sweeney seemed unbeatable. Durr, who shot his campaign video on his smartphone, will be a member of the N.J. State Senate.
Americans are rebelling against vaccines mandates, the not-so subtle political indoctrination of our children in the nation’s public schools and the federal government’s refusal to protect America’s borders. Virginia is a state in which Joe Biden won by 10 points and Barak Obama narrowly won twice, so the republican sweep is significant.
Granted, McAuliffe was an awful candidate who resorted to the oldest page in the democratic playbook - he tried to make this campaign about race. He accused Youngkin of trying to ban a book by a black author, and also said Virginia needs fewer white teachers. But that strategy blew up in his face. As economist Thomas Sowell recently pointed out: “racism is on life support and is being kept alive by race hustlers and race baters.”That message was lost on McAuliffe, a longtime Clinton hack who, in true Clintonian fashion, might be investigated over allegations he illegally received a $350,000 donation from a foreigner.
In numerous polls voters in Virginia said the top issues for them were parents’ rights, the economy, and education. The Democratic Party had better start listening to the people who put them there or they will most assuredly lose both the House and the Senate in 2022. The Party’s loss would be America’s gain.
And the coup de grace in Virginia: Donald Trump endorsed Youngkin no less than 10 times. America is back!

What’s in a Motto?

It is almost daily that we are reminded that America is not the country in which you and I grew up. There are cultural trends that clearly show we are a nation rapidly changing, and not for the better.

Somehow, the Left finds it offensive to portray America in a positive light. To do so is to convey a sense of American superiority; that we view American culture as exceptional. No change more clearly exemplifies this way of thinking than the recent announcement by Jim Lee, Chief Creative Officer for DC Comics, that Superman will no longer be fighting for “Truth, Justice and the American Way, but rather for “Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow.” Why the change? Is the American Way no longer worth defending? Is it racist? Does it imply white nationalism?
According to Variety, the change is meant “to better reflect the storylines that we are telling across DC and to honor Superman’s incredible legacy of over 80 years of building a better world.” I think there is something much larger and more sinister at play- and it’s by design. Granted, the original mantra didn’t begin with the first Superman comic books, but rather from the Superman radio serial in the early 40’s as a way to support the American war effort. “The American Way “motto was revived for the “Adventures of Superman” TV series starring George Reeves that began airing in the late 1950’s.
All of the mantras for which Superman has fought over the decades have included “truth” and “justice. “The change in the Man of Steel’s mission statement may seem benign, but it is part of a growing trend in this country to downplay America’s achievements and to show disdain for the principles that made us great.
No part of our culture is safe from so-called “wokeness,” which is plaguing our great nation. Everything that Americans hold near and dear is under attack: our Constitution, our institutions (especially the churches), the Founders, Christopher Columbus, are all in the Left’s cross-hairs. Now, even Superman has fallen prey to this new zeitgeist in which any mention of America is considered offensive.
Another example of the folly of this massaging of the language is the National Recreation and Parks Association’s (NRPA) new instructions on how to speak in “woke” terms. According to a column in Red State by Mike Miller, the new language guidelines include tips such as no longer using the term “Americans” to describe Americans and making sure the term “white” is lowercase while the word “Black” is capitalized.
As the Daily Wire reports: “the new Equity Language Guide for parks and recreation professionals includes meticulous instructions on what words are acceptable or unacceptable when speaking about race, age, gender, sexual orientation and ability.” Evidently, referring to Americans as Americans isn’t inclusive enough. As the guide instructs: “When we talk about parks and recreation serving communities, we are usually talking about how they serve all people, whether or not they are a U.S. citizen.” First of all, a non-profit, which is what the NRPA is, shouldn’t be “serving” anyone who is NOT a U.S. citizen. Also, because the term “alien” is offensive (according to the guide) when referring to people, it should not be used even when referring to plants. These people are insane. The NRPA wants us to believe that this is all to illustrate how language changes over time. Nonsense.
If we really wanted to be sticklers about language usage and grammar, we would banish the term “woke” from our lexicon. It is Ebonics and makes a mockery of the King’s English.
The drive to marginalize the American culture, as the announcer for The Adventures of Superman might describe it, “is more powerful than a locomotive” and is happening “faster than a speeding bullet.”

The “Sweet Science” of Language

Now that Tyson Fury has dispensed of Deontay Wilder(again) and has successfully defended his undisputed heavyweight crown, one phrase that has disappeared almost entirely from boxing’s lexicon is “the Great White Hope. “That sobriquet has been given to every Caucasian fighter since the great Jack Johnson, a black man, ruled the heavyweight division over 100 years ago.
Before Johnson rose through ranks, the heavyweight champion was always white. That a black could challenge a white in the squared circle, let alone defeat him, was simply unthinkable. James Jeffries, the former champ, retired rather than face Johnson in the ring. After Father Time caught up with Johnson, white pugilists such as Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney and Max Baer, would again rule the division until 1937 when the Brown Bomber, Joe Louis, captured the crown from James Braddock. A white would not claim the title again until 1952 when Rocky Marciano knocked out Jersey Joe Walcott.
I just find it interesting that no one in the boxing world has made reference to Fury’s race. Why is that? Is it because he clearly is the most talented boxer in the heavyweight ranks, or is it because the phrase is too provocative in our racially charged culture? Or it could be that there are more skilled white heavyweights than there have been in recent years. After all, the 33-year-old self-proclaimed Gypsy King dethroned another melanin-challenged fighter, the aging Wladimir Klitschko, in 2015 to win the title.
There have been several notable white heavyweight contenders in recent decades: Jerry Quarry had a great left hook, but had the misfortune of fighting in the same era as Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. In subsequent years, a pair of hard-hitting Irish challengers would come close to winning the crown but would fall short. In June of 1982, Jerry Cooney took Larry Holmes into the 13th round before succumbing to fatigue and a barrage of punches. In his bid for the title twenty six years ago this week Tommy Morrison suffered a sixth round TKO at the hands of Lennox Lewis.
With Fury’s victory, maybe we can begin to rate a fighter based on his level of skill, toughness and determination and not on the color of his skin.

Defund the Police? Reap the Consequences

One of the cornerstones of the democrats’ agenda for America is the defunding of municipal police forces across the country. This proposal, we are told, was in response to the police killing of career criminal George Floyd in Minneapolis. So what has this suicidal policy wrought? New statistics from the FBI show that the murder rate in 2020 rose by nearly 30 percent, the largest single year increase in over 50 years. The report shows there were 4,901 more murders committed last year than there were in 2019. What accounts for the sharp spike in homicides? Many on the Left continue to blame the proliferation of guns and even Covid for the burgeoning murder rate.
But a quick check of federal crime statistics doesn’t bear this out. Violent crime has been falling for decades, while gun ownership in America continues at an all-time high. To be sure there are any numbers of factors for the upward trend; and the proliferation of guns has indeed contributed to the problem – especially when those firearms are in the wrong hands. On any given weekend in democrat-run cities such as Chicago, Detroit and Baltimore, young black men are often gunned down by other young black men brandishing illegal guns. Many of them, no doubt, have never heard of George Floyd.
Not being a criminologist, I will refrain from offering any reasons for the recent surge in violent crime other than to offer this observation: cities that have redirected millions of dollars from their police departments to other social services are experiencing the largest upticks in crime rates. In the wake of Floyd’s death, the “defund the police” movement has taken hold in Los Angeles, Baltimore, Seattle, Chicago and Portland; with Minneapolis proposing to abolish its police department all together.
Is it any wonder that Americans are buying guns in record numbers? It’s not guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens that threaten our constitutional republic, but rather the democrats’ embrace of incendiary racial politics and their subservience to the Black Lives Matter movement that threatens to tear this nation apart.

Progressives’ Blueprint for America’s Demise -

If one were to come up with a blueprint for how to effectively and efficiently destroy America, Joe Biden and his merry band of progressives are following it to the letter. From raising taxes to pay for trillions of dollars in additional spending, to imposing vaccine mandates on millions of Americans, to neglecting to protect our borders, this Administration is actively seeking America’s destruction. Let’s start with the border. Why is it so hard to secure our southern border? It shouldn’t be that difficult. Biden could marshal the vast resources of the federal government and make our borders tighter than two coats of paint. But he either can’t or won’t. There can be only two reasons why democrats are pushing for open borders: to import more future democrat voters, or to make America indistinguishable from every other country. It is the exact opposite of putting America first.
How many different ways can you say that Biden is not up to the job of running the country? Some believe he is not running it. I have my own theories, but I’ll save them for a future column. Biden’s number two, also in over her head, took issue with the thousands of Haitians, mostly men, camped out under the Del Rio International Bridge in Texas, being rounded up by white men on horses and sent back to their home country. Our esteemed Vice President finally found time in her hectic schedule to visit the Texas border. Meanwhile, Senate Leader Chuck Schumer has advised the President to stop expelling Haitians who are here illegally under Title 42 first implemented by President Trump. Make no mistake; the people massing across our southern border are not the best and brightest the world has to offer. Why must America take them in?
The Biden Administration is trying to force the experimental Covid vaccines on some 80 million Americans who remain skeptical of their effectiveness and of their safety. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Afghanis and Haitians are welcomed in and not forced to meet the same requirements. It’s insanity.
Nero fiddled while Rome burned; Biden rides his bike while America sinks ever further into a quagmire.
Congressional democrats are looking to hike taxes to pay for a 3.5 trillion dollar “human infrastructure” bill. As bad as that sounds, AOC and her fellow Squad members were seeking $ 6 trillion in new spending. The price tag for this latest wealth redistribution scheme was too steep for even Bernie Sanders, who chairs the Senate Budget Committee. The fact that an avowed socialist has control of the purse strings in the Upper Chamber is frightening in and of itself.
Back to our Commander-in-Chief, it’s more than just Biden being asleep at the switch; he no longer has the mental capacity (if he ever did) to lead our nation. Something has got to be done, but what? Would Harris be any better, or Pelosi? Americans had better become engaged and be ready to take back our country in next year’s midterms, or the damage being done to this nation will be irreversible. Let’s send Bikin’ Biden back to Delaware for a not-so-well-deserved retirement.

Supreme Court Lets Texas Pro-Life Law Stand -

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow the State of Texas to restrict certain abortions could signal a turning point in the legal battle over abortion rights. The Texas law, signed by Republican Governor Greg Abbott in May, prohibits doctors from knowingly performing the procedure if they can detect a fetal heartbeat, which the law defines to include cardiac activity in the embryo that appears about six weeks into a pregnancy.
The High Court denied a last-minute bid by clinics and abortion rights advocates to stop the Lone Star State from banning abortions after a fetal heart beat is detected. SB8, or the Fetal Heartbeat Law, enables private citizens, except the person who impregnates a woman through rape or incest, to sue physicians who perform abortions after a fetal heartbeat has been detected.
According to the Epoch Times the law “does not provide an abortion acception for a pregnancy that’s the result of rape or incest, but does allow women to have an abortion for “medical emergencies. “Meanwhile, SB8 allows for civil action to be brought against any person who aided or abetted a violation of the law. Those found guilty would have to pay $10,000 to the person who files such a suit.”
Reaction from the hard left has been swift and predictable. Vice President Kamala Harris tweeted: “The Texas law blatantly violates the constitutional right established under Roe vs. Wade and will disproportionately affect communities of color and individuals with low incomes…”She’s right about that. Black women are nearly four times as likely to have an abortion as their white counterparts. That number has been consistent for three decades. Last year, the lives of 400,000 black babies were snuffed out in the womb. If black lives truly matter (and of course they do), they need to matter at ALL stages of life, especially at conception. Without life there is no liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
For the Cult of Abortion, a woman’s so-called right to kill her own offspring (fetus) supersedes all others. As for Harris worrying about constitutional rights, she doesn’t appear to be losing any sleep over the government stripping away the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners. The constitutionality of every right can be legally challenged. There have been limits placed on speech, the owning of certain firearms and a host of other rights protected by our constitution.
The Court’s majority said the decision is not based on any conclusion about the constitutionality of the Texas law and it allows challenges to move forward.
It should be noted that the three justices appointed by President Trump - Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, voted with Justices Thomas and Alito, while Chief Justice John Roberts voted with his three fellow liberals in dissent.

Biden’s Bay of Pigs

America’s precipitous withdrawal from its longest war will no doubt go down as one of the most grievous foreign policy disasters in U.S. history. It has already been compared to Kennedy’s Bay of Pigs fiasco in 1962 and our abandonment of South Vietnam a decade later.
It has been said that foreign policy is under the total purview of the president. As head of government, he formulates foreign policy, supervises its implementation and attempts to obtain the resources to support it. He also organizes and directs the departments and agencies that play a part in the foreign policy process. Our hasty retreat from Afghanistan and the ensuing chaos in its wake has revealed a disturbing character flaw in Joe Biden.
Biden’s indecisiveness or unwillingness to respond to acts of terrorism, including a bombing at Kabul airport that, as of this writing, has claimed the lives of 13 U.S. servicemen while injuring dozens of Afghans in what authorities are claiming was a suicide bombing, is unconscionable.
It is crystal clear that Biden has reached his Peter Principle – he’s not up to the task of being Commander-in-Chief. Letting Seventh Century head-choppers dictate the terms for our withdrawal is beyond outrageous. As columnist Michael Goodwin recently wrote, “Biden didn’t just blink in the face of terror; he is groveling before the Taliban, acknowledging their victory and laying the groundwork for their legitimacy as the rulers of Afghanistan. “Then, to add insult to injury “accidentally” leaving tens of billions of dollars’ worth of weaponry to a terrorist group holding thousands of Americans hostage is an impeachable offense.
The Administration’s retreat in Afghanistan is the latest in a long line of foreign policy blunders that have cost American lives and dollars. John Kennedy failed to provide the necessary air support to Cuban nationals looking to depose Fidel Castro early in the young president’s administration. In 1973, President Nixon ended America’s involvement in Vietnam, paving the way for Ho Chi Minh and the communists in the North to conquer the entire country. The History Channel describes the events of April 29, 1975: “White Christmas, “was played from radios across Saigon, the signal for Americans to evacuate the capitol. Seven thousand people, mostly Americans and South Vietnamese, were evacuated from the city. Photos of the chaos in the streets as men, women and children jostled for space on the last helicopters were broadcast across the world. Sound familiar?
This episode will have political consequences for the feckless Biden from which he will never recover. It was not a war the U.S. was ever going to win, but announcing a withdrawal date almost always invites disaster. Al Qaeda and ISIS are threatening consequences to any Americans who are still in that country past the Aug. 31 deadline.
Why should the most powerful nation on earth be bound to its own self-imposed deadline, while murderous thugs threaten reprisal if we don’t abide by those terms? Biden has got to go, now, before any more American blood can be spilled in a country that has never known democracy and perhaps never will.

Cuomo Resigns

Governor Cuomo did the unexpected today, resigning from office under a cloud of scandal. The governor maintained till the end that he did not intentionally sexually abuse anyone. A defiant Cuomo said the investigation into his actions was politically driven. The State Attorney General’s report outlined accusations from 11 women who claimed the governor groped them and engaged in other inappropriate behavior.
It is not yet known if the Assembly will pursue impeachment proceedings against the 63-year-old Cuomo, who is also accused of covering up Covid deaths in state nursing homes. Cuomo allegedly used state resources to write a book touting his handling of the pandemic, despite the fact that he ordered the state’s nursing homes admit Covid-positive patients.
There could be further investigations pertaining not just to the sex scandal and the nursing home debacle, but also for Cuomo favoring family and friends for Covid tests and also for possibly covering up safety concerns about some materials used in the construction of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
Lt. Governor Kathy Hocul will become the state’s first female governor. She will be sworn in in 14 days.

Governor Cuomo is on the Ropes

The Assembly is nearing conclusion of its investigation into sexual harassment allegations against Governor Cuomo. Assembly Judiciary Committee Charles Lavine said today the committee is reviewing the findings in the State Attorney General’s report which details numerous allegations from 11 women that they were the target of unwanted sexual advances by the Governor.

Also included in the AG’s report are allegations the governor improperly used state resources to write a book touting his response to the pandemic. He also is accused of giving preferential treatment to family members and friends by putting them in the front of the line in order to get them Covid tested.
Assembly investigators are combing through over 100,000 pages of documents pertaining to the sexual harassment allegations and over 500,000 pages of documents relating to the nursing home scandal. Lavine said his committee will hold two more meetings, on the 16th and 23rd of this month during which time they will review sensitive documents and depositions, before deciding on whether to recommend drafting articles of impeachment. Public hearings will be held after August 23. If the Assembly does decide to impeach, the governor would be tried by the Court of Impeachment, which is the State Senate and seven judges of the Court of Appeals.

Cuomo has until this Friday to turn over any relevant evidence in his defense. Speaker Carl Heastie reiterated today that the governor has lost the confidence of the majority of members of the Assembly and of the people of New York State.

Meanwhile, Cuomo's top aide, Melissa DeRosa, resigned last night saying she sees no path in which the governor can stay in power.

Rules for Thee, Not For Me

“There should be a zero tolerance policy when it comes to sexual harassment. We must send a clear message that this behavior is not tolerated.” That is what Governor’s Cuomo tweeted May 13, 2013. Was the Governor serious about clamping down on those who would pursue unwanted sexual advances, or was he, like most politicians, just trying to curry favor with half of the electorate? If I were a betting man, I’d choose the latter. The irony is that the Governor pushed for passage of a landmark 2019 state law that makes it easier for sexual harassment victims to prove their case in court.
The noose is beginning to tighten. This week, Districts Attorney in Albany, Westchester and Nassau counties, as well as the DA in Manhattan, all said they would open a criminal probe into the Governor’s alleged sexual predations. This, in the wake of State Attorney General Letitia James’ blockbuster report that found the Governor sexually harassed multiple women and retaliated against at least one of the women for making her complaints public.
The New York Post is reporting that the Assembly is close to wrapping up its probe of the Governor and could draft articles of impeachment in the next few weeks. The Assembly Judiciary Committee is set to issue its report and recommendation and then the full Assembly would immediately convene a special session and vote on the articles of impeachment.
Assembly investigators are also gathering information on the nursing home scandal in which the Cuomo Administration is accused of doctoring the numbers of Covid-related deaths during the peak of the pandemic. The 63-year-old Democrat is also accused of using staffers and other government resources to help him write a book touting his handling of the pandemic.
More than 80 Assembly members have publicly said they favor beginning the process to force out the three-term Governor, whose current term ends at the end of next year. Despite mounting pressure to step down, Cuomo shows no signs of relinquishing his office. A simple majority, or 76 votes, is needed to impeach the Governor. If that were to happen, Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul would immediately become acting governor pending the outcome of Cuomo’s trial in the Senate, where a two/thirds vote would be needed for conviction.
Meanwhile a Marist poll this week showed that nearly 60 percent of New Yorkers believe the Governor should step down.

CUOMO’S COMEUPPANCE?

The State Attorney General’s bombshell report accusing Governor Cuomo of sexual misconduct has a number of politicos calling for the Governor to step down. Among them, Senate Leader Chuck Schumer, NY Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congressmen Greg Meeks and Hakim Jeffries, all democrats, and Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. AG Letitia James’ long-awaited 165-page report contains damning allegations that the 63-year-old Governor sexually harassed 11 current and former state government employees. One of the victims, a New York State Trooper, claims Cuomo grouped her in an elevator while she was part of his security detail.
James said her office will not criminally prosecute the governor, but the victims could pursue the matter in civil court. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie has called an emergency meeting with his members this afternoon to discuss that chamber’s next step. The Assembly Judiciary Committee is slated to meet Monday. There has been widespread speculation that the Assembly will possibly indict the Governor or even begin impeachment proceedings, over not just the sexual misconduct allegations, but also the Governor’s ordering nursing homes to admit Covid-positive patients.
One thing is for certain: Andrew Cuomo is politically damaged. Despite calls for him to step down, the Governor doesn’t appear ready to resign. In fact, he dug in his heels in a 15-minute statement during which he denied inappropriately touching anyone. Watching Cuomo skillfully dodge and deflect the allegations levelled against him, it is hard not to compare his performance with that of former President Bill Clinton, who during a federal deposition said he “did not have sexual relations with that woman (Monica Lewinsky).”The Governor went on to talk about New Yorkers’ resiliency and the unfinished business that lies ahead.
Talk of impeachment may be premature as several lawmakers have said this report alone may not be enough to impeach the governor. An Albany democratic assemblyman said today that impeachment at the state level does not meet the same standard as it does at the federal level. The federal standard is “high crimes and misdemeanors” at the state level it’s “abuse of power.” If the governor is found guilty of sexually abusing underlings, that could be an abuse of power. But that has yet to be determined and the governor should be granted a presumption of innocence. Cuomo has always enjoyed the backing of a significant number of Legislative democrats, however, in a late development, Assemblyman Ron Kim, a NYC democrat, said there is enough support in the Assembly to begin impeachment proceedings.
Cuomo initially said he was sorry if his behavior with women was “misinterpreted as unwanted flirtation.” But recently, he has become more combative accusing his accusers and critics of being politically motivated.

A Capitol Tragedy

Why is it that nearly seven months after the January 6 raid on the U.S Capitol, we still don’t know the identity of the Capitol police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt? We know the names of the police officers in Minnesota who fatally shot Daunte Wright; all of America knows Derrick Chauvin was the officer who knelt on the neck of George Floyd for over nine minutes; most of us are familiar with the names of other law enforcement officials who took lives in order to protect the public. Why doesn’t Congress push for the release of the name of the cop who cut short the life of an unarmed U.S. Army veteran and Trump supporter?
There are several reasons, one of which is that Congress has not required Capitol Police to follow the same public reporting or transparency protocols that govern most large municipal police forces. Jemima McEvoy writes in Forbes: The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is required by law to release the names of officers involved in deaths or serious uses of force within five days of the incident, the Capitol Police force is not – and has often chosen to withhold that information in previous cases.” Capitol police are also not equipped with body cameras, again, like most large city police departments. Why is that? The short answer is Capitol Police are charged with protecting federal lawmakers, and lawmakers, in turn, protect their protectors. That’s why we don’t know and perhaps never will know who fatally shot Babbitt. By comparison, the Minnesota PD, in addition to disclosing the names of police officers involved in serious incidents, also must release the video from officers’ cameras. That’s how we know that Kim Potter was the officer who shot Wright during a fatal encounter at a traffic stop.
The officer who took Babbitt’s life has to live with the knowledge that his decision to use deadly force robbed a young woman of her future and forever changed the lives of her family. Babbitt’s mother, Michelle Witthoeft, lays the blame for her daughter’s death on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. From WND: “My daughter was a California constituent, and I feel like Nancy Pelosi orchestrated the death of my daughter. “An earlier report from the Western Journal found that there had been no reports of Babbitt attacking officers or starting fires, as BLM and Antifa thugs did last summer. So where are the vigils and protests over her death?
The Inspector General investigating the case, Michael Bolton, said the department’s deficiencies were and are widespread. From AP:” Equipment was old and stored badly; officers didn't complete required training; and there was a lack of direction at the Civil Disturbance Unit, which exists to ensure that legislative functions of Congress are not disrupted by civil unrest or protest activity. “The IG’s report is essentially saying Capitol Police were not prepared for what transpired January 6.
Why are Capitol Police exempt from the same kinds of reforms police departments across the country are undergoing? The answer comes back to Congress. In April, the Department of Justice closed its investigation into Babbitt’s death and cleared the police officer of any wrongdoing. It’s the old D.C. two-step – Washington always protects its own.

Calling Doctor Biden, Calling Doctor Biden

With each passing day, we witness the inexorable drive by the political Left to divide Americans in any way possible. In addition to separating us by race, ethnicity and class, you can now add another means of division: the vaccinated vs the unvaccinated.
We’ve all heard stories about how unvaccinated people should be denied healthcare and access to public schools; one writer has gone so far to suggest that “it’s time to start shunning the vaccine hesitant.” Opinion columnist Michael J. Stern wrote in USA Today that “proof of vaccination should be required to work, play and travel. “Can vaccination passports be far behind? Many public venues, including sporting arenas, restaurants and bars, even some workplaces, are denying access to the unvaxxed. To be clear, governments aren’t holding a gun to anyone’s head and demanding a vaccination passport, at least not yet(there is Biden’s door-to-door initiative), but it’s easy to feel as though the walls are closing in on those of us who are skeptical, not only of the vaccines’ efficacy, but of their safety.
If you feel as though you belong to an exiled group described by Hillary Clinton as “the Deplorables,” you’re not alone. We unvaxxed folks are constantly being reminded how we are endangering our family, friends and community by not doing our civic duty and getting the Fauci Ouchie.

The CDC claims rates of infections are climbing most quickly in rural areas in which vaccination rates are lowest, mostly in Red States. And among the most hesitant are white males (Trump supporters) and blacks, many of whom already harbor distrust of the federal government (see Tuskegee Experiment).
Most people, not just Americans, have an innate desire to want to fit in with the rest of society. In no arena is this more so than in education. Most parents send their children to public schools believing their child will receive the best possible education that re-enforces the values they are taught at home. As we’ve seen in recent confrontations between school boards and parents concerning the teaching of Critical Race Theory, nothing could be further from the truth. There have been numerous columns and posts written suggesting unvaccinated teachers and children should be denied access to public schools. If that ever happens, I know of four children who will never again set foot in a government school.
In a piece for WND, Brent Smith writes: “If America’s lefts/statists have their way, our nation will end up divided into two distinct tribes – the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.” The operative word in that statement is “divided.” America has become a nation of squabbling factions. If our Republic is to remain united, we need to heed the warning in Abraham Lincoln’s now famous speech he delivered in 1858 to the Illinois State G.O.P. Convention about how a “house divided against itself cannot stand.”

A Week In Review

There is a battle being waged for the soul of America. Christians know that the struggle is in the heavenly realm, between the forces of Light and the forces of Darkness. We see the battle manifest daily in the natural; in Texas and in other States looking to shore up their voting laws and the steps being taken by Democrats to thwart those plans; in the federal bureaucracy seeking to racialize our education system, in the Biden Administration threatening to go door-to-door in order to intimidate unvaccinated Americans into getting a Covid shot. These are steps one would expect to be taken by communist regimes, not by a government of a nation that for two hundred years has been a beacon of hope to the world. In every major political point of contention, the Democrat Party stands in opposition to liberty.
In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott and his fellow Republicans are holding a special session to restore some semblance of integrity to the state’s voting system. Monday, 58 House Democrats bolted the Lone Star State to take a chartered flight to D.C. where they plan on rallying to support the For the People Act. Texas law requires a quorum of two thirds of lawmakers be present to conduct business in either chamber. Democrats oppose these election integrity bills, not because they would make it harder to vote, but because they would make it more difficult to cheat.
The Democrats' chief claim is that laws requiring voters to present photo ID amount to discriminatory "suppression" of the black vote. They are now pushing legislation in the U.S. Senate that would gut state voter ID laws across the nation.
However, polls show a substantial majority of black voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification such as a driver's license before being allowed to vote. As WND reported, a Rasmussen survey in March found 69% of likely black voters and 75% overall favor a voter ID requirement. Only 21% were opposed. Also in March, a black freshman congressman who grew up in the Jim Crow South, Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, said the notion that blacks can't get a photo ID is racist in itself.
Another front-burner issue heating up across the country is the Marxist indoctrination of public school children under the guise of teaching them critical race theory, which posits that all whites are oppressors and all brown people are oppressed. Teachers unions are doing their best to mask their end game by saying CRT is just seeking “equity” and “inclusion” in our educational system. But many Americans are beginning to fight back against left-wing inculcation of our next generation.
Finally, it was reported this week that more people have died from the adverse effects of the Covid-19 vaccines than have from the virus itself. From WND: “The government's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, or VAERS, contains voluntary, unverified reports of adverse events following immunization with U.S.-licensed vaccines. The Gateway Pundit noted VAERS reported 2,043 vaccine deaths in the week prior to July 7 compared to 1,505 COVID-19 deaths.” Statistics like this have millions of Americans skeptical, not only of the safety of the vaccines, but also of a government-media complex that is pulling out all the stops, including bribery, to have Americans become inoculated.

A TOXIC IDEOLOGY IN OUR NATION’S SCHOOLS

It has long been believed that an educated citizenry is essential to the protection of our liberties and to our constitutional republic. That said the education of America’s children is primarily the responsibility of the States and localities. But in recent years the Federal Government has assumed a larger role in public education. In exchange for federal funding, States have ceded the responsibility of educating our youth to Washington, and the results have been catastrophic. The financial cost of Washington’s involvement in education is staggering: hundreds of billions of dollars into a system that has resulted in plummeting test scores and U.S. students trailing many of their peers in the industrialized world in Math and Science. But the harm to our country comes in other forms. Social justice warriors have introduced the teaching of Critical Race Theory into our nation’s schools.
The country’s two largest teacher’s unions are fighting to protect the ability of teachers to force-feed their young charges with the notion that all whites are oppressors and most minorities are oppressed. I say ‘most’ because oddly, Asian –Americans are not numbered among the subjugated groups.
For this, we can thank the National Education Association and the United Federation of Teachers.
Earlier this month, the NEA adopted a number of resolutions, including Business Item 39, which calls for a massive push to teach CRT in classrooms across the country. From Red State: “The NEA will, with guidance on implementation from the NEA President and chairs of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Caucuses: Provide an already-created, in-depth study that critiques empire, white supremacy, anti-blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, (basically, a socio-political system in which males have authority over females and those professing other gender identities), capitalism…and other forms of power and oppression at the intersections of our society, and that we oppose attempts to ban critical race theory and /or The 1619 Project.”
Join with Black Lives Matter at School and the Zinn Education project are calling for a rally October 14, George Floyd’s birthday, as a national day of action to teach lessons about structural racism and oppression. Additionally, the union is urging its members to be trained on how to counter anti-CRT rhetoric. This nonsense is being taught to our children and we are paying dearly for it – in more ways than just financially. Each year, the NEA and UFT, whose membership exceeds 4.5 million, boast a combined budget totaling over $550 million. In effect, we are being forced to pay for our own demise.
The irony that these leftist unions who so loathe capitalism are looting more than a half a billion dollars annually from the very economic system they despise is rich. In truth, the education establishment detests America and its founding principles of freedom and economic liberty. In her keynote address NEA President Becky Pringle told her members: “The NEA will reclaim public education as a public good, and transform it into something it was never designed to be – a racially and socially just and equitable system that prepares every student , every one, to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.” Reclaim it from whom, from home-schoolers, and from those choosing private or parochial schools to educate their children? What the cartel is pushing for is not equality of opportunity; we have that, but rather, equality of results.
The Leftists in academe seek to marginalize anyone opposing their vision of education by characterizing anyone opposing the teaching of CRT as being white supremacists, anti anti racists or even worse, Trump supporters. Instead of unifying the races, racializing our curricula will further drive apart the races with the goal of expanding government power over education.

The Left is seeking to eliminate competition in education, but government schools already enjoy a monopoly, which is rich considering liberals are against monopolies in the private sector, but harbor no such opposition when it comes to schools.
If you love your children and want what’s best for them, (what right-thinking parents don’t) find out if your local district is teaching CRT. If it is, you owe it to your children and to America, to put an end to it.

July 4, A Celebration of America.

As Americans gear up to celebrate the nation’s founding, one can’t help but notice a strong under-current of anti-Americanism running through much of our culture, especially among people under age 30. It is arguably the result of the racial unrest and tumult in the wake of the George Floyd killing. At least that’s what the Left would like us to believe. But America haters have been at this for a long time, only now it appears they are really gaining a foothold. I think much of the blame can be laid at the feet of leftists in academe and the public education cartel in general. Our government schools are quickly becoming indoctrination centers in which our young people are imbued with the false notion that America is irredeemably racist.
Case in point, hammer-thrower Gwen Berry was standing on a podium during an Olympic trial when she turned away from the American flag during the playing of our national anthem. Responding to the crush of criticism directed at her, she tweeted: “I never said I hate my country, people try to put words in my mouth…I love my people.” Her “people,” but not her “country,” telling indeed. Berry claimed she was told the anthem wouldn’t play while she was on the podium. She says she was “pissed” and that she was set up. By the way, Berry is sponsored by the group, “Color of Change,” which is part of the de-fund the police movement. Sadly, Berry is one of a growing number of black athletes who’ve taken to protesting our flag, or our anthem, or both. Washed up NFL quarterback Colin Kapernick began kneeling during the playing of the anthem and was lauded in the usual circles for his “brave stance.” And the problem has gotten only worse.
Another pampered athlete, Chelsea Wolfe, a transgender BMX Freestyle rider, said in a since-deleted Facebook post that her goal was to "burn a US flag" at the Olympic podium. Wolfe previously qualified as an alternate for the U.S. Olympic team at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. In her March 25, 2020, social media post, Wolfe reportedly wrote, "My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium. This is what they focus on during a pandemic. Hurting trans children."Wolfe prattled on about wanting to make sure fascism didn’t gain momentum here in America. What she really meant was she didn’t want to see Donald Trump re-elected.
There is a movement afoot to do away with July 4 as a national holiday, no doubt orchestrated by many of the same people who have succeeded in setting aside the entire month of June to celebrate homosexuals and other deviants. Juneteenth, June 19, or Black Independence Day, is now a Federal holiday commemorating the freeing of slaves in Texas, the last state of the Confederacy with institutional slavery; an event worth celebrating, but not at the expense of July 4.
For decades, the Left has been using race, class and gender issues to divide Americans. It uses various fronts to disguise its true intent. We see it in the so-called “woke” culture, in the rise of groups such as BLM and ANTIFA, in the tearing down the statues of historical figures. The disrupters seek to destroy America’s past in order to destroy its future. But they under-estimate American patriots, who could be likened to what the Bible calls a “remnant.” The Book of Isaiah, refers to a "remnant," a small group of Israelite's who will survive the invasion of the Assyrian army (Isaiah 10:20–22). The remnant is promised that they will one day be brought back to the Promised Land by Yahweh (Isaiah 11:11–16). America will survive the evil forces loosed upon our great nation, just as Israel survived the many incursions on their land. We still are a beacon of hope and freedom for oppressed peoples around the world.
So unfurl Old Glory and proudly fly her and NEVER forget the blood that was shed in order to make this country great and to keep it great. America is an exceptional country, not due to its economic or military might, but because we have always been a nation that feared God. I used the past-tense because I believe a sizable portion of the country no longer fears God, many don’t even know Him. One day they will. As the scripture says: “ every knee shall bow and every tongue profess that He is Lord,” Have a blessed July 4th.

WHO IS KAMALA HARRIS?

Despite the media’s carefully crafted image of Kamala Harris, Americans are beginning to see who this woman, sitting at the precipice of the ultimate seat of power really is. She is a fake. In her line of work, saying one thing and doing another is usually an asset, but Harris is even too phony for politics.
The nation’s 49th Vice President got her start in politics by being former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown’s paramour, not something one aspiring to high office would want on their resume. But, Harris slowly climbed the ranks, eventually becoming a District Attorney, State Attorney General and a U.S. Senator representing the nation’s largest state. On paper, she’s impressive; well-spoken, attractive, in reality she is just another politician bereft of an original idea.
During the primaries Harris failed to gain any traction, she was crushed in Iowa, a state in which her campaign invested most of its time and money. Harris was even trailing Andrew Young in her home state. Things got so bad for Harris, that even a majority of California Democrats urged her to drop out of the race. What prompted her precipitous decline? Getting humiliated by Tulsi Gabbard in one of the early primary debates didn’t help, but it’s more than that; as people listened to Harris, they began to get a sense of how transparently insincere she really is.
As Fox News’ Tucker Carlson recently pointed out the media and Harris’s people, have “created a Soviet-level cult of personality” to assure Americans that Harris is both brilliant and competent. She is neither of those things. How can a woman who was quick to exit the primaries, never having won a state, now become the second most powerful person in the United States? She has the two things on which the Democratic Party puts a premium: she is a woman and she is not white. So, Harris’ ascension is the result of her DNA not of any accomplishments
Fast forward to her recent interview with NBC’s Lester Holt during which he pointed out that SHE had not been to the U.S.-Mexico border. First the nervous laugh then her flippant response: “And I haven’t been to Europe either, I don’t understand the point you’re making.” But someone so intelligent would have to understand the point. A quick check of YouTube will provide you with her other cringe-worthy attempts to dodge un-scripted questions from journalists
Harris would have us believe she grew up poor and oppressed under Jim Crow in California. In actuality, Harris is the daughter of two college professors and attended high school in Montreal. Like her boss, everything about her is a lie. It fits a narrative the media is spinning, but a large segment of the voting public is beginning to see through it. Let’s hope for the sake of our country and its liberties, it’s not too late.

Say it Ain’t so, Joe

It was another pathetic display by the so-called leader of the free world at this week’s G7 Summit in Belgium. President Biden was caught off guard when asked whether he thought Vladimir Putin was a killer, a word Biden has used in the past to describe the Russian President. His response is grabbing a lot of headlines, not just for what he said, but how he said it: “Well, look, I mean he has made clear…” Then after what seemed an interminable pause, he continued: “The answer is, I believe he’s in the past essentially acknowledged that he was, there are certain things that he would do or did do. But look, when I was asked that question on air, I answered it honestly. But, I, I, don’t think it matters a whole lot in terms of this next meeting we’re about to have.” He had to have the second question repeated because he forgot it. My question would have been, “why have you not clearly answered the first question?
Making sport of the president’s obvious cognitive decline is fodder for the late-night hosts. Although, I’m certain they’re steering clear of piling on the Commander-In-Chief because he’s a liberal democrat. Could you imagine the media’s reaction if President Trump fumbled his way through a press conference the way Biden does? Complaining of the media’s double-standard at this point is a waste of time and space, so I’ll refrain from indulging in it.
Then, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had to twice wave off the President’s interruptions, once for wrongly claiming Johnson failed to introduce South Africa’s president. But our illustrious leader was just getting started. After mangling another bizarre answer about Putin, he then proceeded to mix up Syria and Libya – three times. And to think there were calls by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from office over what they perceived to be his lack of mental acuity.
Biden’s press conferences are carefully scripted and the President’s handlers are careful to limit reporters’ follow-up questions. Recall President Trump’s pressers. They were anything but scripted. He had to daily face a hostile press corps who loathed him and tried desperately to lure him into making a snafu. Biden never says anything of substance, because there is no substance. He’s an empty vessel, and he’s leading the most powerful country the world has ever known.
I know I’m not the first to point this out, but having someone so clearly damaged leading our nation puts us all in grave danger. With adversaries such as Putin’s Russia, Communist China, North Korea, Iran and others on the world stage, it is imperative that America’s leadership meets the daunting challenges that lie ahead. I don’t know who’s in charge of the nuclear football, but it’s a frightening prospect to think Dementia Joe is the one on whom that responsibility rests. God help us.

Time for Parental Control of Education

We in America, have reached a point in which we can no longer sit back and let others fight our political battles for us, it’s time to engage. Most of us, especially those on the political Right, want very little interaction with government. But as we witness events in towns and cities across America, so-called progressives are controlling many of the levers of power. No place is this more evident than in the operation of our public school systems.
The cause de jour in our government-run schools is the pushing of critical race theory, which is Marxist in its origin. Our young people are being indoctrinated to believe that all whites are racist oppressors and all blacks are subjected to that oppression. How can this be when America twice elected its first black president, the mayors of many of our nation’s largest cities as well as their chiefs of police and superintendents of schools are black?
Find out if your local district is teaching critical race theory and if they are, put an end to it. Our taxes are paying for this indoctrination, and it’s up to each one of us to make sure our money is wisely spent and our children receive a quality liberal arts education, if that’s still possible in public schools. Proponents say CRT is about teaching diversity and inclusion. Don’t fall for it. These liberals want to re-write America’s history. But Americans are fighting back – and winning.
In May, the Smithtown Central School District on Long Island wrested control of three school board seats. Organizers said they wanted to stop the school from promoting the 1619 project, which recasts America’s founding as being driven by slavery. Voter turnout was nearly triple the usual turnout.
In Louden County, Va., parents are attempting to recall a majority of the school board for requiring that teachers learn about “systemic oppression and implicit bias.” In the Dallas suburb of Southlake, a group of parents opposed to divisive, race-conscious learning ran candidates committed to supporting the idea of colorblind learning. The tide is beginning to turn, but change won’t be easy. Teachers unions have a stranglehold on the process. As former New York State Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey pointed out in a recent column: “School board candidates are often union members and their races are funded by union donations. Teachers unions give 94 percent of their money to democrats. School boards tend to be pro-union, pro Democrat Party and in favor CRT. “
Instead of calling talk radio to air their grievances, conservatives should do as liberals do: gain control of local boards of education. These boards hire superintendents, set policy and have the power to stop CRT. The time for talk is over; it’s time to get involved in the process. Our children’s future, and America’s, depend on it.

A Tale of Two Cities

The city of Chicago resembles the Wild West, except it’s mostly the bad guys who have all the guns. This past weekend (5/21-5/23) in the Windy City, 55 people were shot, 11 fatally. One would think preserving law and order and protecting the lives of its citizenry would be priority one for Mayor Lori Lightfoot, but you would be wrong. The first-term democrat is more concerned that the press corps accurately reflects the city’s racial diversity, which is nearly thirty percent black. Members of the Fourth Estate, Lightfoot claims, are too white and too male. That’s why she has said she will field questions from only black and brown reporters, not from any who are melanin challenged. But how racially diverse is Chicago’s leadership? Lightfoot is black, the City’s Police Chief is black; the public superintendent of schools, also black.
And, 39 percent of public school teachers have their own children enrolled in private schools; that’s four times the national average. So the City’s ills cannot be the blamed on systemic racism, especially when you consider that many of the country’s most prominent black leftists call Chi Town home.

The who’s who of left wing political icons and fellow travelers include: Bill Ayers, Barack Obama, Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson and Rob Emmanuel. Chicago is not the exception, but rather the rule, when it comes to the rise in violent crime, homelessness, gang activity and a host of other social ills.
Albany is beset with many of the same problems as Chicago and other democratically-run cities: poor roads and bridges, high crime rates, under-achieving public schools and over-taxed residents. There have been half dozen shootings in the Capital City in the past several days, in which three people have lost their lives, including a 15-year-old girl. But what does Mayor Kathy Sheehan deem a priority? Bike paths and making sure the city’s parks are well-maintained. The Mayor appears to be impervious to the senseless shootings in her city, at least two of which occurred in broad daylight.
Police Chief Eric Hawkins has been unable to get a handle on the situation, but that hasn’t prevented him from issuing idol threats: “We’re going to send a message to these individuals who are terrorizing our community — that there will be repercussions. We will not allow this community to be terrorized by, in most cases, these young men who have no regard for human life, who are shooting indiscriminately in daytime hours and populated areas and vibrant neighborhoods. And have no regard for the harm that they’re causing to not just those who they are targeting but unintended victims.”
But what do city leaders plan to do about it?

The Left is more concerned with defunding the police and empowering the lawbreakers. The primary function of government is the protection of lives and property; judging by recent events in many of the country’s largest cities, these governments are failing the very people they are sworn to protect.

Over the past several months the political Left has stepped up its attacks against America. Nowhere is this more evident than in the actions of the mainstream media and Big Tech companies such as Twitter and Amazon.
These forces are working in tandem to censor conservative speech and political activity, denying First Amendment rights to their political opponents and restricting access to conservative opinion and important news stories to the American people.

Conservatives, including former President Trump, are increasingly being “de-platformed” by companies such as Twitter. Yet, the counter-culture uses these same social media platforms to relentlessly hammer, not just the former president, but anyone who challenges liberal orthodoxy on any political issue.

Amazon is refusing to sell books questioning the transgender revolution—and recently, it took down an award-winning documentary video on the life of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas!

A major publishing company, Simon and Schuster, recently succumbed to pressure and cancelled plans to publish a book by U.S. Senator Josh Hawley on the danger posed by Big Tech. The real danger lies in letting Big Tech become a self-appointed arbiter of which political speech is acceptable and which is not.

The Left’s tentacles reach into every facet of American life. California Congresswoman Maxine Waters is urging protesters to become “more confrontational” as BLM threatens cities with violence if former cop Derrick Chauvin is not convicted of killing George Floyd. BLM has warned that “cities will burn” if Chauvin beats the murder rap. Can you imagine the response from the media if President Trump urged patriots to respond similarly on January 6th? While many legal scholars say it is unlikely that Chauvin will be completely exonerated, it is also not a sure bet he’ll be convicted of third degree murder.

If the lives of innocent young blacks is so important to Waters and others like her, why has she not spoken out on the recent gun violence in three major U.S. cities? This past weekend in Chicago, 24 people were shot, three fatally, including a 7-year-old girl. In the first three months of 2021, 864 people have been shot in the Windy City. That’s already 218 more than were shot all of last year. Also over the weekend in Baltimore, three lives were cut short in a hail of gunfire, seven others injured, including a 5-year-old. April 6 in St. Louis, 12 people were shot over a 28-hour period. Not a peep from Waters and BLM. But then again, their aim is not to prevent a loss of life, but rather to silence opposition and chip away at our liberties.

Make no mistake, America is at war; it’s a war for the soul of the nation, for the future of our Republic; and in war, coming in second best is not an option.

'Biden and the Border.​'

America is facing an existential crisis at its southern border. How many times over the last three plus decades have we heard that? And since the mid 1980’s presidents from both major parties have been either unable or unwilling to fix it; until Donald Trump was elected. The problem of illegal border crossings didn’t end in 2016, far from it, but the Biden Administration has taken the open border concept to a whole new level. In March, more people massed across our southern border than at any time in our history. One may quibble about the raw numbers (which are available on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s website), but the rise in crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border is the direct result of President Biden’s policies.
Congressman Richard Hudson, a North Carolina Republican stated in a tweet on March 15:"Illegal border crossings are up 173% from 1 year ago and 28% since January when President Biden stopped the wall & deportations and started catch & release. “Hudson also appeared on Fox News the same day to discuss immigration. That interview is posted online.
Vice President Harris was tapped by Joe Biden to handle the border crisis; to witness first-hand the increased flow of immigrants and asylum seekers along our southern border, but as of this writing, she hasn’t found time to make the trip.
Why is it so difficult to stop the tide of migrants unlawfully entering our country? Does Mexico allow people to mass across its border? Then upon gaining entry, are the interlopers set up with free housing, free medical benefits and free college tuition? Federal immigration officials have their hands tied. There are broadcast reports that say Immigration and Naturalization Enforcement officers (I.C.E.) in some instances have been told by Administration officials to either stand down or get out.
The Federal Government’s failure to secure the border proved fatal for a California law enforcement officer’s brother. Jody Jones’ story is not unique. Three years ago Jones’ older brother, Rocky, also a police officer, was shot and killed by an illegal criminal alien. The shooter, Gustavo Garcia, was arrested two days prior to the murder, but due to California’s sanctuary policies, he was let out of jail. Garcia is also responsible for two other murders, a number of shootings, carjackings and several high-speed chases. Garcia is still breathing. Jones’ brother is not.
Instead of tackling what obviously is a national security issue at the border, the Biden-Harris Regime would rather deflect and get the American People focused on other, less pressing issues, such as gun control on which Biden has promised a number of Executive actions.
By failing or refusing to secure our borders President Biden is not fulfilling his primary constitutional duty: to protect the lives and property of American citizens. It is time patriotic Americans call or write their congressional representatives and demand our borders be secured. The future of the American Republic is at stake.

'Our Second Amendment in the Crosshairs.​'

In the wake of two deadly mass shootings in Atlanta and Colorado that claimed the lives of 18 Americans, liberal gun-grabbers are once again calling for a ban on “assault weapons,” as though that action alone would curb gun violence. President Biden is under increasing pressure to take either executive action or push Congressional Democrats into passing legislation to restrict gun ownership.
Responding to a reporter’s query on when we can expect additional gun control measures, Biden said “It’s a matter of timing. I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take common-sense steps that will save lives in the future.” One of those “common-sense” steps would be to re-institute the federal ban on assault weapons, which Biden helped to pass in 1994 while he was a member of the U.S. Senate. California Senator Dianne Feinstein has introduced the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021, which calls for restricting the purchase of roughly 200 common sporting rifles. The 94’ ban had little effect on reducing crime and a similar prohibition would have the same result.
Liberals’ knee-jerk reaction to any mass shooting is to focus on the firearm while ignoring the motive(s) of the shooter. The mental health of the assailant often is at the root of the problem, as it was in the massacres in Parkland, Aurora, Sandy Hook and Columbine. The weapon of choice in the Colorado killings was an AR-15. Contrary to the media’s description of it as an “assault weapon,” the AR -15 is a semi-automatic rifle and NOT the type of high-powered military-type weapon” or a rapid-fire automatic weapon that Americans are already prohibited from legally purchasing. As for the term “assault weapon,” that description could be applied to any firearm used for illicit purposes. The issue is not the firearm, but the heart of the person holding it.
As former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel once famously said: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” And that’s what democrats are hoping to do here. They want to strike while the iron is hot and ram through what they call “common sense” gun measures. But they never elaborate on what they mean by “common-sense. “Texas Senator Ted Cruz zeroed in on the gun-banners’ long-range goal: “What happens…after every mass shooting is Democrats propose taking away guns from law-abiding citizens because that is their political objective, but what they propose not only does not reduce crime, it makes it worse.” The objective is never what liberals tell you it is; it always entails Americans giving up some measure of liberty in exchange for security. But once liberty is ceded to government it is very difficult to get back.
I’ll conclude with a quote from Thomas Jefferson, our third President and principle author of the Declaration of Independence: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." In the first months of the Biden Presidency, the Administration is proposing restrictions on our Second Amendment, a national mask mandate and an all-out assault on the rights of the unborn. Does it sound to you like the U.S. Government fears the American People?

'TIME TO CANCEL CANCEL CULTURE'

“All politics are local.” It’s a quote most associated with former Democratic Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, and an astute observation. By now, many Americans are aware of the Left’s attempts to cancel Dr. Seuss, Mr. Potato Head and My Pillow’s Mike Lindell. Now the cancel culture is rearing its ugly head in my little corner of the world. The movement’s cultural Marxists have zeroed –in on tiny Cambridge, NY, nestled in beautiful southern Washington County.

For decades, our football team’s mascot has been “the Indians.” Now, a minority of angry liberals, taking their cues from outside agitators, have decided the mascot has got to go; “it’s racist,” they say, or “insensitive” to people of Native American ancestry. Three of their useful idiots sit on the District’s school board, where they hold a majority. Admittedly, I don’t know for certain the political affiliations of these board members, but I can guarantee you, not one of them voted for Donald Trump in either election. They have probably never voted for a republican in their lives.

Liberals are adept at organizing and achieving their political ends by controlling local boards, whether, village, town or school. There’s nothing wrong with that, that’s the way it is supposed to work. But in the case of the mascot, it is clear that a vast majority of town and village residents want to keep the Indians mascot. But instead of following the wishes of the people who pay the bills, the school board’s three liberals are trying to silence the majority. The board president, (whose wife is the High School science teacher) recently proclaimed the debate “over.” Those of us who cherish the mascot think otherwise.

The fair thing to do, in my opinion, would be to put it to a referendum, let residents decide whether the mascot stays or goes. I’m not saying we should govern by plebiscite; after all, there are more important items with which the Board should concern itself, namely keeping school taxes low and dealing with personnel issues. Now there’s word that the board is going to hire a mediator to come and try to resolve the dispute. You can bet the mediator is a liberal or the board wouldn’t even consider the idea.

Last week, those of us who want to keep the Indian mascot, peacefully gathered in masse, dressed in orange, the school’s colors, and carried signs to let the board know there would be reprisals if they voted to scrap the mascot. Being liberal, they were afraid to vote in person, so they voted virtually. Not surprisingly, they tabled the issue, meaning the Indian mascot stays – for now.
This debate is about a lot more than just a small school district wanting to keep its mascot. The larger issue is political correctness, which the late libertarian writer Florence King likened to “female touchiness writ large. “The roots of political correctness can be traced back 100 years to the Frankfurt School in Germany. As author William Lind points out, it was intellectuals such as Georg Lukacs, who believed culture needed to be erased before it could be replaced by a Marxist one. To accomplish this, “critical theory” came to fruition with the goal of destroying what it perceived to be the old ways of thinking. We are witnessing an airbrushing of America’s history by revisionists who aim to impose a cultural Marxism on society.

Some ideas and prejudices obviously are wrong and need to be replaced, but changing the name of a mascot of a school in a small rural community proud of its heritage and its sports teams should not be numbered among them. If the school board opts to change the mascot’s name, then those of us opposed to that decision will change the school board.

Equality for Whom?

Congressional democrats have labelled it, The Equality Act, but for Christians following the dictates of their faith and their consciences, it is anything but. The bill, which has already passed the democratically-controlled House, would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected classes under the federal civil rights law. Fortunately, thanks to some arcane rules in the Senate, ten republicans would have to support the bill in order for it to reach the President’s desk. That’s a pretty tall order, but certainly not impossible. The Equality Act, if enacted, would force business owners and employees to conform to the new guidelines under threat of losing their livelihoods.
This is already happening at the state and local level. The most celebrated case involves Colorado baker Jack Phillips, who refused to create a customized cake for a same-sex wedding. The Colorado Civil Rights Commission accused Phillips of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Phillips counter - sued claiming the commission targeted HIM for his Christian beliefs. Phillips ultimately won when the Commission decided to drop its case. This kind of federal intrusion into the private sector discourage people from opening businesses
Then there is the case of high school French teacher Peter Vlaming. He was fired under his school’s anti-discrimination policy when he refused to comply with administrators’ orders to use a female student’s preferred masculine pronouns. Vlaming tried avoiding the pronouns altogether and addressed the student by her preferred masculine name – the school board said that wasn’t good enough.
Medical professionals would be forced to act against the best medical judgement by providing transition affirming strategies. According to the Heritage Foundation, “Catholic hospitals in California and New Jersey have been sued for declining to perform surgeries on otherwise healthy women who want to become male.”
These kinds of cases will become more numerous if the Equality Act becomes law. This latest attempt by progressives to normalize abnormal behavior could radically affect the family dynamic and potentially threaten parental rights. Recently, parents in Ohio lost custody of their 17-year-old daughter because they refused to put her on testosterone supplements.
Non-profits and volunteers would also be hurt if the Equality Act gets ratified. Again, from the Heritage Foundation: State and local sexual orientation and gender identity laws have shut down numerous faith-based adoption and foster care agencies across the country, in Pennsylvania, NY, Illinois, California, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
Unlike the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which guarantees blacks equal access to public accommodations, the so-called Equality Act seeks to force all Americans, but especially those of faith, to accept new sexual norms that would radically alter our society. From indoctrination in our public schools, to changing rules in our workplaces, cultural leftists are to trying to govern how Americans think, speak and live their lives. We must not let that happen.

Biden and Abortion

If it feels to you that evil is triumphing in post-Trump America, you’re not alone. At the same time everything we know in our hearts to be noble and good is maligned and debased. A significant portion of America has turned its back on God, and the Bible is replete with examples of how it never ends well for a people who do that. Among the most disturbing agenda items being pursued by the nascent Biden Administration is its assault on the sanctity of the lives of the unborn.
2020 was a banner year for the nation’s leading abortion provider. According to the American Center for Law and Justice, Planned Parenthood performed nearly 355,000 abortions over the last 12 months, a record; it also received over 618 million in U.S. taxpayer funding, also a record. Since the adoption of Roe Versus Wade in 1973, more than 62 million unborn babies have had their lives snuffed out, a vast majority of them for no greater reason other than for the convenience of their mothers.
The Democratic Party outwardly claims to support “women’s rights.” But half of those aborted babies would have grown up to be women, and all of them contributing members to society. But more importantly, those lives were created by God, in His image, sacred and deserving of the dignity afforded every human being. But they were denied the right to life guaranteed by our Constitution.
Even though statistics show the number of abortions declining in America, the news isn’t encouraging when one considers President Biden has tapped the radically pro-abortion Xavier Becerra to lead the Department of Health & Human Services.

Becerra could be the most pro-abortion HHS secretary ever. He sued to force the Little Sisters of the Poor to pay for abortion pills and tried to prosecute pro-life journalists who exposed Planned Parenthood’s grisly practice of harvesting and selling aborted babies’ body parts. He even tried to shut down pro-life pregnancy centers, but was defeated by at the Supreme Court.

Team Biden has also rescinded the Mexico City policy, which prohibits federal tax dollars from going to Non-Governmental Organizations(NGO’s) that perform or advocate abortion as a method of family planning, as a condition of U.S. aid. Since Ronald Reagan signed its implementation in 1985, every republican administration has enforced it, and every democratic administration has suspended it. So in effect, U.S. taxpayers are onced again bankrolling abortions around the world.

Pro-lifers need to continue to keep up the pressure on our leaders, especially those who claim to be Catholic, to make the only morally acceptable choice and protect the lives of those unable to protect themselves. Every civilized nation should expect no less from their government.

R.I.P. RUSH

As I’m sure most of America has learned, radio icon Rush Limbaugh passed on to glory last week after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Limbaugh, it’s been said, single-handedly saved AM radio. From the late 1980’s until earlier this month, Limbaugh enlightened and entertained millions of Americans daily from behind his EIB microphones, from whence he would lay out for his legions of loyal listeners the Left’s anti-American agenda and how we could best thwart it. Not only was Limbaugh at the top of his profession, he was a true patriot, an American original. Rush took William F. Buckley’s brand of libertarian conservatism and made it easy to understand. Liberals despised Limbaugh and everything for which he stood; mainly individual liberty and a healthy skepticism of government power.
“America’s Anchorman” was one of the lead-ins to Limbaugh’s show. Another referred to his daily three-hour program as “show prep for other talk show hosts.” He was certainly that for me. I would listen to Rush’s program for a few minutes each day to get a beat on that day’s biggest stories. His insights on what was happening in Washington were spot on and delivered clearly, concisely and with good humor. His brother, David, whom I had the good fortune of interviewing several years back, wrote recently, “Rush was a loving brother and friend to countless Americans.” The outpouring of love and adoration for Limbaugh in his passing has overwhelmed his family.
Rochester radio host Bob Lonsberry, penned this: It is impossible to calculate the good he has done for America as the leading voice in defense of our nation's principles of liberty and in opposition to the doctrines of chaos and oppression. ... And he is always optimistic. … With Rush, there is always a path forward, and a sense that it's going to work out. … no matter how the media characterizes him, he is a happy man. He doesn't bring people down, he lifts them up. ... But is he first and foremost a friend to countless Americans? That's how it looks to me. And that's how it feels to me. The news yesterday wasn't about a prominent person, it was about a personal friend. And I'm not the only one. There are tens of millions just like me. Who have found comfort, friendship and validation in a man on the radio. And yesterday(news of Limbaugh’s passing) hit us hard."

"We can't wrap our brains and our hearts around it that our beloved Rush has returned his talent to God. And we are so thankful for him." Well said, Mr. Snerdley and mega dittos Rush, from one of your millions of adoring fans. R.I.P.

Is The U.S. Government at War with The American People?

The U.S. Government is at war with the American People. I know that statement is in direct conflict with everything our federal government is constitutionally required to uphold; namely to protect our God-given rights. Do you believe our elected leaders are fighting for the people who sent them to Washington? Did voters in Wyoming elect Liz Cheney so she could vote to impeach Donald Trump even though he’s already been removed from office? Are American citizens clamoring for their representatives to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens? If three quarters of Americans are against codifying Roe versus Wade, why are democrats hellbent on doing just that?
The Senate just passed a 1.9 trillion dollar so-called stimulus bill. The only thing it will “stimulate” is the federal printing presses. Included in this grab-bag are amendments preventing illegals from receiving stimulus checks and one nixing any defunding of police departments. The fact that those amendments were even part of the discussion is testament to the depths to which our political debate has fallen. We are engaged in a battle we all know has been coming for decades. We can no longer wish it away or leave it for the next generation to fight.
Radio talk show host Michael Savage wrote a book a decade ago called “The Coming Civil War.” Despite the hyperbolic title, his warnings have turned out to be prescient. To say Americans are polarized is an under-statement. There are clearly two Americas: one believes in individual liberty, limited government, low taxes, a strong military and that the Second Amendment extends to the individual, the right to own a firearm. The other side believes primarily in the power of government. How to reconcile the differences? We disagree on even how we are to govern ourselves as a nation. In the post-Trump landscape, any notion of putting America First is considered racist and adherents to that policy must be marginalized.
As author and political commentator Pat Buchanan recently wrote: “
“We have no common code of morality. One side is rooted in modernism and secularism and the other in the teachings of the Old and New Testament, Christian tradition and a natural law written on the human heart that is superior to man-made law.”
But God still sits on His throne, and we can take solace in the truth of His Word. Psalm 37 tells us, “The meek shall inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming.” Let’s pray that day comes soon.

Why Do So Many Catholics Vote Democrat?

It seems counter-intuitive; any Catholic true to his faith would never pull the lever for a candidate who supports abortion-on-demand, homosexual marriage, LGBTQ rights and the rest of the left-wing social gospel preached by the American Left. But every four years, an overwhelming number of Catholics vote for just such a candidate. Catholics do not vote as a monolithic bloc, as do Jews, who tend to vote 3-1 for the democratic presidential candidate, and blacks who vote upwards of 90 percent for the democrat. Nonetheless, given the Church’s moral teachings on the aforementioned issues, democrats shouldn’t get ANY support among Catholics.

The Edison exit polls estimate that 52% of all Catholic voters opted for Biden and 47% for Trump. Four years ago those same polls showed a 46% Catholic vote for Clinton, and 50% for Trump. The AP VoteCast estimates the Catholic vote evenly split between the two men, with 50 percent supporting Trump, 49 percent for Biden. So, if these polls are accurate, Trump lost support among Catholics, which is odd because no president has ever done more to protect the sanctity of innocent human life and defend religious liberty than Number 45. His nominations of Catholic justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett to the High Court is evidence of that commitment.

So why the three percent drop in Catholic support for Trump this time around? It could be the fact that Biden is Catholic, or at least professes to be. Hillary Clinton is not. There could be cultural reasons, many ethnic Catholics upon immigrating to America flocked to large cities in states along the eastern seaboard in which most people tend to vote democrat.

How do these voting patterns among Catholics compare with previous presidential elections? Frank Newport in a November 13 column for Gallup writes: “Available data show that John Kennedy received roughly 80% of the Catholic vote in 1960 (estimates vary), but that was a different time with a different partisan structure. By 2004, when John Kerry was the Catholic nominee for the Democratic Party, Catholics went for Bush (52%) over Kerry (47%). In 2008, when Obama defeated McCain by seven points overall, Obama won the Catholic vote 54% to 45%. And in 2012, Obama got 50% while Romney got 48%.”

The fact is the Catholic Church has been infected with the cultural liberalism that has permeated much of American society. It pains me to say that. I was raised Catholic by my late parents, both Irish Catholics from North Albany. The Catholic Church is a big part of who I am as a Christian. I don’t mean to malign it in any way, but its leader, Pope Francis, is clearly a man of the Left. In my view, Catholic politicians such as Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Andrew Cuomo and a host of others, at both the state and national levels, should be excommunicated for supporting policies that inexorably lead to a culture of death.

During a recent interview with EWTN, Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City in Kansas, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, said President Biden’s soul “is in jeopardy.” Biden’s soul isn’t the only one at risk.
