In a truly Trumpian move, Texas Governor Greg Abbott bused dozens of migrants from the Lone Star State to Vice President Kamala Harris’s D.C. residence. A local NPR affiliate here in upstate New York called the move “a stunt.” But Abbott is forcing the hand of Democrats by bringing “home” the issue to Harris. In the words of Francis Bacon: “if Mohammad will not come to the mountain, then the mountain must come to Mohammad.” Harris was tasked by the President with visiting the southern border. It took her several months to work the trip into her busy schedule, and some say only a planned rally in Texas by President Trump finally induced her to make the pilgrimage.
Border-state governors say they no longer have the money or resources to deal with the influx of illegal aliens pouring into their states. Abbott in April began busing migrants to Washington D.C. and has recently added New York and Chicago as destinations. Arizona Governor Doug Doucey has been sending illegals from his state to the nation’s capital since May.
Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has gone a step further, flying dozens of migrants from his state into Martha’s Vineyard (Oprah and the Obamas should love that). The tiny island in Massachusetts is one of the wealthiest and most liberal enclaves in America. Massachusetts State Rep, Dylan Fernandes, who represents Martha’s Vineyard, tweeted: “We are a community that comes together to support immigrants.” We’ll see. The Governor of the Bay State deployed the National Guard to assist the 50 migrants.
DeSantis, Abbott, and the governors of other border states are fighting back by transporting illegal aliens from their states to destinations labeled “sanctuary,” including many large cities run by democratic mayors
A Spokesman for DeSantis said, “States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited to our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’‘and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”
Democratic officials and their cheerleaders in the media are slamming the latest moves by Republican Governors claiming they’re using innocent people, many of them children, as pawns for political gain.
If these Democrat-led states are so immigrant-friendly, let’s see them back up their rhetoric with action. The well-heeled and most liberal Americans are always claiming to fight for the less privileged and society’s downtrodden. Let’s see how hard they’re willing to fight. Better yet, one of these GOP Governors should ship some of these “less-privileged” to Biden booster James Taylor. Maybe he could feed and house a few of them in Squibnocket, the barn he uses as a recording studio on Martha’s Vineyard. Maybe Stephen Colbert should ask him about that the next time JT’s on the Late Show.
