THE PAC-Perspective by Ted Flint
This presidential election comes down to a simple choice, but one that will have dire consequences if Americans don’t choose wisely. It’s a choice between freedom and totalitarianism. If you think that a hyperbolic comparison, let’s break it down further. On what issues do Americans put a premium? Every reputable poll says people are most concerned with the economy and border security. The two are related. A porous southern border has helped to weaken our economy.
Donald Trump’s policies will restore our economy and provide more opportunities for Americans from every economic stratum. He’s promised to lower corporate taxes which would spur investment; he’s promised to undo the restrictions on drilling for oil and natural gas on federal lands, a move that would pump life into all sectors of the economy. Despite her recent comments in support of hydraulic fracturing, Harris would continue to handcuff the fossil fuel industry. She and Biden killed the Keystone XL pipeline project and with it, thousands of high-paying jobs.
This election is about more than a choice between mean tweets and cheaper gasoline. It’s a choice between a nation willing to enforce its physical borders and a nation that permits any person under any circumstance to waltz into our country. Liberals, and Harris has said this, believe America should permit anyone looking to escape poverty, or oppression, a chance for a better life. A noble sentiment but there are over a billion people across the globe living below the poverty line; do we let in a billion people? America would be unrecognizable; and that’s the goal.
There have been reports of Haitian immigrants flooding into American cities and even in some rural areas catching and eating pond ducks. How can this be happening in America? From the AP: “Under a Biden policy in effect since January 2023, up to 30,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela can enter the country monthly if they apply online with a financial sponsor and arrive at a specified airport, paying their own way.”
Harris has flipped her position on illegal immigrant promising tighter security if elected. Louisiana Senator John Kennedy shot down that lie with a single post on X: “Reminder: The Biden-Harris White House wrote nearly 300 executive orders to open our border in just their FIRST YEAR in office.”
Taxes
As it is in every election, tax policy is front and center this time too. For Wall Street, the greatest attention is on corporate earnings and capital gains taxes. During his presidency, Trump cut the corporate tax rate to 21% from 35% and last week said he favors cutting it to 15% for companies that make their products in the U.S.
Harris, meanwhile, last month outlined plans to raise the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21%, to ensure "big corporations pay their fair share," as they are "often paying a lower tax rate than our teachers and our nurses and our firefighters."
Goldman Sachs analysts said last week that at Harris' 28% rate, earnings of S&P 500 companies would take a 5% hit while Trump's proposed cut would boost them by about 4%.
Liberals love higher taxes because they are the lifeblood of government. By reducing taxes, Americans get to keep more of the money they earn, thus affording them more freedom to spend as they see fit.
The media has attempted to remake Harris as some sort of moderate, but judging by her policy stances on everything from her support of a Green New Deal, reparations, defunding the police, enacting a federal gun ban, and ending private health insurance, she is the same left-wing ideologue she has always been.
What kinds of people want open borders, an unstable economy, rampant crime, and higher taxes? People who do not love America and the ideals for which it stands. Again, the choice is clear – choose wisely.
