Making D.C. Safe Again

Updated: Sep 26

The PAC-Perspective by Ted Flint

President Trump is doing what mayors in the District of Columbia for decades have refused to do: control crime and make the city and nation’s capital what it deserves to be: a symbol of the greatest nation on God’s earth. But instead, Democrat Party rule has resulted in crime infested streets, homelessness, and a diminished quality of life for those who choose to make D.C. their home.

D.C. Democrats say crime is down; down from what? If D.C. were a state, it would have the highest murder rate in the country.

The President has the guts to do the right thing and federalize Capitol Police knowing he would take a hit from the usual suspects who criticize every move he makes. His actions are not only long overdue but are the right ones to take. He has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional; he is well within his authority to call in the national guard and FBI to get a handle on crime. The District of Columbia is not a state and is under federal control. Mayor Muriel Bowser is trying to play the race card claiming Trump is attempting to marginalize a powerful woman of color. She is dealing from the bottom of the deck.

Liberals claiming the President’s actions to eradicate crime in D.C. are a political stunt, ring hollow in the wake of an investigation by the Justice Department into whether police officials in D.C. falsified data in order to make crime rates appear lower than they actually are.

U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro says it's next to impossible to put a teenage killer behind bars. Instead of taking violent young thugs off the streets, liberals want them to go to college on the taxpayers’ dime. She says it’s time the D.C. Council stops coddling young criminals.

Pirro is pushing to have the age of responsibility in criminal cases lowered to 14 years of age. Recently, a college intern was shot on his way to a McDonald’s for a late night snack. Then a young man was nearly beaten to death by a band of roving youths when he intervened to try and save a friend from a similar fate. Pirro says if these punks had gotten this young man to the ground they would have finished the job.

Raise the Age?

In 2018, as part of so-called criminal justice reform New York Democrats rammed through a package of soft on crime bills in an effort to lower the incarceration rates among black and brown men. Raise the Age was part of that package. It increased the age at which a young law breaker can be prosecuted as an adult in criminal cases from 16 years of age to 18. We need to LOWER the age of accountability for violent crimes committed by teens. The Left wants the deck stacked in favor of the criminal class and against law enforcement.

Fascistic? Dictatorial? A threat to our democracy? What is so threatening about securing our streets and our way of life? Democrats find themselves defending unsafe streets and against wiping out crime and putting criminals behind bars.

The nation’s capital, as commentator Megan Kelly pointed out, should be the “crown jewel” of our republic. Instead, under democratic rule, it has become a crime ridden, drug infested cesspool. No more. The District of Columbia is a symbol of our great nation; it should be a shining beacon on the hill. But instead, it represents the failure of progressive policies that have destroyed families, especially those of color.

The Nation’s capital belongs to us, not to drug dealers, gang bangers and every other brand of criminal committed to destroying America’s social fabric. Next stop on the Making America’s Cities Safe Again tour: Memphis, St. Louis, Chicago, Baltimore, Seattle, all democratic strongholds. Making America Great Again has to begin with making its cities safe and prosperous, starting with its capital.
