What is the Great Reset? The PAC-Perspective by Ted Flint 3/8/22

Much has been said and written about the so-called Great Reset. Conspiracy theorists claim it’s a plan by the Global Elite to establish a totalitarian one-world government. Are they wrong? Michael Rectenwald is the chief academic officer for American Scholars. Speaking in November at Hillsdale College at a conference titled, “The Center for Constructive alternatives on the Great Reset, Rectenwald said the Great Reset is real. In fact, the idea has been around since the early 1970’s

Quoting from a book written by Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum(more later on the WEF) and co-founder Thierry Malleret, entitled: Covid – 19: The Great Reset, Rectenwald said the authors define the Reset as a means of addressing the weaknesses of capitalism that were purportedly exposed by the pandemic.

Our political elites have employed a three-pronged approach to achieving world domination: economic, social and environmental.

The specific phrase began to catch on in 2010 after the publication of the book The Great Reset by urban studies scholar Richard Florida. Florida hypothesizes the 2008 economic crash was the latest in a series of “resets” which include the economic depressions of the 1870’s and 1930’s, periods Florida defines as “paradigm-shifting systemic innovation. “ Our political, economic and cultural elites at the WEF have been promoting what they call “stakeholder capitalism,” the idea that in order to achieve long-term growth and prosperity everyone must benefit, not just shareholders.

The result is more government intrusion into the private sector or as Rectenwald puts it: “capitalism with Chinese characteristics- a two-tiered economy with profitable monopolies and the state on top and socialism for the majority on the bottom. Again from their book Schwab and Malleret pit stakeholder capitalism against neoliberalism, which they define as “a corpus of ideas and policies…favoring competition over solidarity, creative destruction over government intervention, and economic growth over social welfare. Sounds like a perfect definition of the free enterprise system.

Rectenwald points out the WEF joined forces with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on Event 201, which simulated an international response to the novel corona virus. This was two months BEFORE the Covid outbreaks in China and five months before the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic.

In June of 2020, Schwab and Malleret published their book on Covid and the Great Reset. Again quoting from the book, Rectenwald said the book declares that Covid represents an opportunity (that) can be seized”; that we should take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity to reimagine our world….” It was former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel who channeled Machiavelli when he said “never let a good crisis go to waste.”

In addition to being a response to Covid, the GR is being promoted as a response to climate change. The WEF published a paper in 2017 titled, “We Need to Reset THE Global Operating System to Achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”

In the final analysis The Great Reset is just the latest scheme to bring about globalism over national sovereignty, of collective security over individual liberty and socialism over free market capitalism. But let not your hearts be troubled, there have been many attempts by totalitarians of different political stripes throughout the ages to control the future of mankind; so far, they all have failed. However, many have left a trail of death and destruction that none of us should want to see repeated.
